Alumnus Dr. Ben K. D. Asante Enstooled as Paramount Chief of Juansa

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) proudly congratulates alumnus Dr. Ben K. D. Asante (PhD) on his recent enstoolment as the Paramount Chief of the Juansa Traditional Area in the Asante Akyem North Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Dr. Asante, now known by his traditional stool name Nana Kwaku Dankwah Opamago Kodie II, was officially installed as Paramount Chief at a culturally rich ceremony that brought together traditional rulers, elders, kingmakers, and community members. His elevation reflects not only deep respect from the Juansa Traditional Council but also broad community confidence in his vision for development, unity, and progress.

A distinguished alumnus of KNUST, Dr. Asante has forged an exceptional career as a chemical and petroleum engineer with global impact. His extensive expertise spans more than 30 years in the energy sector, and he has served in leadership capacities across major international and national organisations. Notably, he served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company (Ghana Gas) and has provided engineering and advisory support to institutions including the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.

In December 2025, KNUST recognised Dr. Asante’s outstanding contributions to engineering, academia, and national development by conferring upon him an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc Honoris Causa) during the University’s 59th Congregation. His leadership in shaping Ghana’s gas infrastructure and his commitment to bridging academic research with industry needs were highlighted as emblematic of the University’s mission to advance science, technology, and societal progress.

Reflecting on his new role, Dr. Asante expressed gratitude to the Juansa Traditional Council, elders, and residents for their trust and support. His leadership philosophy emphasises unity, inclusive development, and opportunities for education and youth empowerment, signalling a fresh and forward-thinking chapter for the Juansa Traditional Area.
