Former Minister and distinguished alumnus Hon. Hackman Owusu Agyemang has called for Alumni to give back to their alma mater. Speaking on behalf of all recipients of the honorary doctorates at the 59th Congregation, he emphasised that the progress of every university is closely tied to the commitment of its alumni.

“Let us lift the spirit of giving back. Let us give in our own small measure, for when a society and its alumni give, universities rise; and when universities rise, nations advance; and when nations advance, humanity is the better for it,” he said.

Hon. Owusu Agyemang commended the KNUST Global Alumni Association and its leadership for keeping the alumni community united across generations. “You continue to remind us that though we may have passed through these halls at different times and in different seasons, we are bound by a shared duty to uphold the honour, growth and future of this University,” he stated. He expressed gratitude to the University for the recognition.

“To be recognised by one’s alma mater, one’s intellectual birthplace and national beacon of scholarship, is to be reminded that no life of service goes unnoticed. When one pours into the world, the world finds its way and time to pour back,” he said.

He reaffirmed the group’s renewed commitment to national development and the advancement of KNUST.

“We commit ourselves anew to shaping institutions and lives. We commit ourselves to becoming thought bearers, standing on the green eagle of knowledge and lighting the path for the next generation,” he shared.

This year’s congregation honoured several distinguished alumni whose contributions have impacted academia, industry, and national development:
