As part of the University’s strategic effort to strengthen administrative excellence, three newly appointed Junior Assistant Registrars undertook an official orientation visit to the Advancement and Alumni Relations Office (AARO) on Tuesday, December 09, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. The engagement forms part of the Registrar’s broader initiative to ensure that new administrative officers gain a clear understanding of the operational frameworks, strategic functions, and institutional impact of key units across the University.
The orientation session was led by Ms. Anita Akua Kyerewaa Kuma, Assistant Registrar of AARO, who delivered a comprehensive and insightful presentation on the Office’s mandate and role within the University’s advancement architecture. She highlighted AARO’s responsibility for fostering strong alumni engagement, coordinating global alumni chapters, driving institutional advancement, and cultivating corporate and donor relationships that support the University’s long-term development goals.
Ms. Anita elaborated on AARO’s expanding portfolio, which includes facilitating major alumni programmes, overseeing strategic communications, supporting fundraising initiatives, and strengthening mentorship pathways through platforms such as Tek Connect. She also discussed the Office’s stakeholder ecosystem, spanning alumni, students, corporate partners, volunteer groups, and the global KNUST network, emphasising how these relationships continue to shape the University’s impact locally and internationally.
The visiting officers were also briefed on the operational structure of the Office, the nature of its collaborations with the KNUST Global Alumni Association, and its role in coordinating flagship activities such as the Vice-Chancellor’s Alumni Chapter Visits, Alumni Homecoming events, and strategic outreach initiatives.
Supporting the session was Mr. Stephen Oppong Osei Tutu, Senior Administrative Assistant at AARO, who provided additional context on administrative procedures, event coordination processes, and the Office’s ongoing digital transformation efforts.
The three Junior Assistant Registrars, Miss Esther Kanyiri Samwini, Ms. Bintu Sualihu, and Miss Vida Osei Mensah, expressed deep appreciation for the orientation, describing it as enlightening and instrumental in strengthening their understanding of the University’s advancement framework. They commended Ms. Anita for the clarity and depth of her presentation, noting that the session offered a more nuanced view of alumni relations and its significance in modern university development.
The Advancement and Alumni Relations Office reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the professional growth of administrative staff and enhancing cross-unit cooperation in pursuit of the University’s development agenda.
