KNUST Expands Corporate Alumni Relations Through Valentine Rush Visits

The Advancement and Alumni Relations Office (AARO) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, has successfully held the maiden edition of its Valentine’s Day alumni outreach initiative, dubbed Valentine Rush, aimed at strengthening alumni engagement and reinforcing strategic institutional partnerships.

As part of the initiative, the AARO team paid courtesy visits to selected corporate offices to engage alumni working in these institutions.  

The outreach was led by Advancement and Alumni Relations Officer Ms. Anita Akua Kyerewaa Kuma, who said the initiative was designed to recognize alumni contributions, share updates on alumni-focused programmes and encourage participation in alumni activities.

She emphasized the important role alumni play as ambassadors of the university, noting that their achievements and continued support were central to its advancement agenda. She thanked the alumni for their continued loyalty and contributions to the university’s growth and reputation.

“We want you to join the alumni community and also hope that very soon you will take a look back at your alma mater. There are various interventions you can take part in through donations and support.” she said.

Dr. Laud Kemetse, an alumnus and Chief Executive Officer of Laud K. Pharmacy expressed his appreciation for the visit. He noted that giving back to the University was a responsibility he embraced with pride. He encouraged fellow alumni to remain connected to the University and stressed that sustained engagement and shared responsibility were key to strengthening the alumni network and advancing the institution’s development.

“Alumni support should not be seen as difficult or burdensome, but as a simple and collective effort to uplift the next generation,” he said.

Institutions visited during the outreach included Luxx Laundry, Laud K. Pharmacy, Ghana Commercial Bank, Consolidated Bank Ghana, Multimedia Group, Ecobank, International Programmes Office, KNUST E-learning Center and the management of the university.

Mrs. Nada Antwi Ecobank KNUST branch manager who welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the engagement. She said the bank was pleased to support initiatives of the univerisity and indicated its willingness to contribute through donations aimed at supporting students. Mrs Antwi thanked the team for the gesture and described the visit as timely and reflective of the university’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with corporate stakeholders.
